Pilgrims’ Digress…

Sadly today’s Church no longer views itself as pilgrims passing through Vanity Fair only of necessity and only temporarily on its journey towards a greater city, but rather has chosen to set up a booth of its own there, inviting the fair-goers to games and entertainment with a peculiar religious flavor able to provide false satisfaction for the inhabitants of the vacuous city.  The booth’s chief success seems to be introducing would-be pilgrims to an alternative life within Vanity’s gates rather than drawing the inhabitants of Vanity to sell all and leave town.
